Giving Picnics: Bike & Paddle Adventure in the Backwoods of BC
September 11 @ 3:00 pm – 8:00 pm
As part of the Giving Picnic series supporting the Brown County Community Foundation, challenge your endurance with a mountain biking and paddling adventure through some of the most remote areas of Brown County. Clint Hammes and John Tiernan will guide you on a mountain bike ride to a canoe journey, ending with a remote picnic. The mountain bike ride will start with some of the most popular and exciting Brown County State Park singletrack. We will make our way into Yellowwood State Forest along a series of more rarely traveled single and double track trails. We will take a short country road connection to the back waters of Lake Monroe where we’ll grab our canoes and kayaks and will depart on a 2 hour paddle through waters that are very reminiscent of Apocalypse Now’s Nung river. Colonel Kurtz is not waiting for us at the end, but the ghost town of Elkinsville is, along with an expertly curated picnic. “I asked for a mission and for my sins they gave me one. Brought it up to me like room service.”
Adventurers will be required to provide their own mountain bike (bikes can be rented locally); kayaks/canoes and shuttles will be provided. Purchase your picnic here!
Working with some great local donors and residents, Brown County Community Foundation (BCCF) is launching its first series of Adventure Picnics. The Community Foundation has prepared exciting evening outings in unique locations complete with local food prepared by the Brown County Inn, interesting sites curated by Brown County residents, and a new way to interact with and give back to the foundation that serves our community.
Below are other options for the Giving Picnics series:
