Robbie Bowden grew up in rural Southern Indiana, in a small wooded country in a little village called Nashville, Indiana. A sixth-generation Brown Countian, he is the full embodiment of what his generation felt about the somewhat magical place where they grew up. In the 1960s, in every little town across America, kids were following the siren call of rock and roll, and Robbie did likewise, embarking on a long, multifaceted and colorful career that took him all over the United States to share stages and brush elbows with many famous and celebrated musical talents of our time.
He is something of a wandering minstrel: a Brown County troubadour. Robbie had many interesting adventures in pursuit of his musical career. He tried a lot of doors and scaled a lot of walls, one way and another. He’s a local legend, having played a key role in the two more notable musical happenings in the Brown County of our generation, the “String Bean Band,” and the “Liar’s Bench/My Brown County Home” series.
