Yellowwood Lake is the 133-acre jewel in the middle of Yellowwood State Forest in western Brown County. Guide David Rupp will give tips on how to safely and efficiently paddle a kayak and then lead a kayak tour around the lake while teaching the participants about the history of the Brown County forests and the birds that live here. A beautiful paddle for all levels of kayakers!

Nature’s Camouflage on the Discovery Trail

Join us at the Nature Center for this naturalist led hike on the Discovery Trail where you will experience the effectiveness of nature's camouflage first hand! Along the trail we have placed various native critters (with excellent camouflage!) for you to try and spot. This hike is half a mile in length and listed as moderate. Children under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. Well behaved, leashed dogs and cats welcome.We hope you can join us for this fun hike!

Hay Ride in the Brown County State Park

All visitors to the park are welcome to come to the Saddle Barn to ride on a tractor pulled wagon filled with hay! The hay ride is sponsored by the Saddle Barn and will run each Friday and Saturday evening through October 24. For more details, please call the Saddle Barn at 812-988-8166. The ride lasts 35 minutes. $4 for each rider. State Park gate fees also apply.

Halloween in the Hills will be a bit different this year with no haunted trail or friendly trail. Instead, there will be a combination of both to make one long trail that's fun for the whole family!
