The Brown County Chamber of Commerce, a 501c6, was established in 1957 when Post Master Fred King started answering questions addressed to the non existent Chamber of Commerce. Today the organization has evolved to be an advocate for small businesses and provide a voice for it’s membership.
The Brown County Convention and Visitors Bureau, a 501c6, was established in 1985, when a County Innkeeper Tax (CIT) was put into legislation to promote the development and growth of conventions and visitation to Brown County.
Each organization operates under the direction of their individual Board of Directors and missions. Both recognizing the importance of the Brown County business community.
The Brown County Chamber of Commerce and the Brown County Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) have partnered to create a full-time, shared administrative position to advance and support the growth of Brown County’s business community.
This is a full time, hourly position, housed within the offices of the Brown County CVB, 211 South Van Buren Street, Nashville, IN.
The day to day supervision will be under the direction of the Executive Director of the CVB. Overall direction and evaluations will be managed by the Performance Review Committee.
This position will serve as the administrative and marketing face of the Brown County Chamber of Commerce. It will provide administrative support to the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and the CVB, under the direction of the CVB’s Executive Director.
It offers a variety of responsibilities that require initiative, professionalism, organization, business acumen and proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite.
Responsibilities include administration and marketing of Chamber Membership, communications with business community, and administrative support for each board of directors.

Interviews will be conducted by a Search Committee comprised of members of the each board and the Executive Director of the CVB. This Committee will also serve as the Performance Review Committee.
Resumes will be reviewed. Potential candidates will be asked to take the Myers Brigg’s 16 Personalities and an Office Suite assessment test.
Projected interview date, January 15, 2021.
