With the first official day of fall right around the corner, the Brown County Convention and Visitors Bureau is proud to announce that its ever popular Leaf Cam is officially up and running! After much anticipation, the Leaf Cam has been carefully placed and secured high above one of the area’s magnificent overlooks to provide a stunning view for visitors.

Bill Monroe’s Bluegrass Hall of Fame & Uncle Pen Days Festival returns to Brown County for a 41st year, September 23-26. Taking place at the “home of bluegrass music” itself, this festival will feature four full days of entertainment, including over 33 bands, music and instrument workshops, around the clock jam sessions, camping, food, and the induction of Raymond Fairchild into the Bluegrass Hall of Fame on September 26.

Steeped in rich art heritage, Brown County has and always will be a haven for artists. Drawn to the area’s breathtaking vistas, lush scenery, and interesting characters, artists migrated to the region nearly a century ago to establish their own art colony, one of the first of its kind in the Midwest. Remnants from the early colony can still be seen today throughout the county, manifested by the over 180 working artists who still call the area home. This September, Brown County will pay special tribute to its historic roots during the Brown County Art Colony Weekend.

From peaceful winding roads in the countryside to the quaint Village of Nashville, open roads await in Brown County, a true rider’s retreat. This September Brown County welcomes all bikers, as the Bean Blossom BikerFest returns for a 13th year, September 8-12. Presented by Scootermania Productions, Inc., not only is BikerFest a great opportunity to test out the local terrain, it is also five full days of fun motorcycle mania.

The National Maple Syrup Festival will return for a second year to Brown County after a successful start in 2015. Slated for the first weekend in March of 2016, the festival will bring together maple syrup enthusiasts, hobbyists, and producers from across the state and beyond to celebrate all things maple. Even though the National Maple Syrup Festival is still months away, maple madness has already begun in Brown County. On September 12, festival organizers in conjunction with the Indiana Maple Syrup Association, will present Building a Healthy Maple Sugaring Business, a panel to enlighten maple syrup hobbyists, as well as producers, statewide regarding state health regulations, requirements, and stipulations related to maple sugaring.

Back for a 17th year, the Bean Blossom Blues Fest will feature performances by well-known blues musicians, as well as around-the-clock jam sessions. Taking part at the historic Bill Monroe Music Park & Campground in Bean Blossom, the Bean Blossom Blues Fest provides a one-of-a-kind, laid-back atmosphere that is perfect for blues fans and musicians alike.

Designated a Bronze Level Ride Center by the International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA), this prestigious award puts Brown County on the road map nationally, as well as internationally, for its superior trail systems and mountain biking opportunities.

On August 10, fifteen prestigious travel journalists and tourism industry representatives from across the country will visit Brown County for the day as part of the 2015 Travel Media Showcase. While the Showcase will be hosted in Bloomington August 11-14, participants will explore nearby areas, including Brown County, prior to the main conference.

Brown County will welcome some of the country’s finest fingerstyle guitar players for three days of pickin’ perfection, July 31-August 2. Back for a fourth year, the Indiana State Fingerstyle Guitar Festival not only will feature a world-class competition and concert on Saturday, but also will include a fun Friday tent party and Sunday guitar workshops.

Two historic Brown County dolls will be making their debut in the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History beginning in July. The two dolls, which will be featured in a permanent exhibit, “American Enterprise,” will showcase Brown County talent and innovation, along with preserving an important part of its history.

Bill Monroe’s Bean Blossom Bluegrass Festival, the world’s oldest, continuous running bluegrass festival, will return to Brown County for a 49th year, June 13-20. For eight straight days, over 70 bands will take the stage showcasing some of the best in bluegrass.

Back for a fifth year, the John Hartford Memorial Festival will bring together both musicians and music lovers to celebrate the life, music and legacy of the late John Hartford. Taking place May 28-30 at the historic Bill Monroe Music Park & Campground in Bean Blossom, Ind., this three-day, family-friendly festival will feature over 40 performers on three stages, around the clock campground jamming, a songwriting contest, and an Old Time Fiddle contest.
