Celebrating Craft Brews in Brown County at Hoosier Hops & Harvest, September 12
September 1, 2015
Local lagers, regional refreshments, area ales...there will be no shortage of spirits at the 6th annual Hoosier Hops & Harvest on September 12. Presented by the Story Inn and World Class Beverages, this event is a beer-lovers dream come true. Featuring libations from several craft and micro-breweries, Hoosier Hops & Harvest is an all-out attempt to wean the Hoosier palate from tried-and-true factory beers.
Taking place at the memorable Story Inn, participating microbreweries will serve up samples of their best stouts, ales, pilsners, porters, and more. The Story Inn’s rural setting provides the perfect atmosphere for guests not only to soak up their suds, but also Brown County’s rustic beauty. Live music and local food will complement unique regional brews, making Hoosier Hops & Harvest a one-of-a-kind experience unlike any other beer fest around.
Gates will open at 12:30 p.m., with beer beginning to flow at 1 p.m. Two-ounce samples will be doled out by participating breweries for the next three hours, providing event-goers with plenty of time to find their frothy favorites. While sampling will end at 4 p.m., never fear. Beer will continue to be served for the remainder of the evening, available for purchase by the glass.
Live music also will be ongoing throughout the event, with performances by the Indiana Boys and Dane Clark. Kick back and relax to the acoustic instrumentation of the Indiana Boys beginning at 1 p.m. These local musicians have mastered a unique sound, blending both Americana and bluegrass to create an innovative style that is all their own.
The Indiana Boys will be followed by Dane Clark, John Mellencamp’s long-time drummer. A position he has held for nearly two decades, Clark continues to play and tour with Mellencamp. Also a songwriter, producer, guitarist, and singer, Clark has two new albums on the way. No style is off limits for Clark, who dabbles in rock, Americana, and alternative/psychedelic music. Clark returns to the Story Inn after filming a music video of his original song, “Yesterday's Man” there last summer.
Tickets for Hoosier Hops & Harvest are $25 and may be purchased online or at the gate. VIP Barn Passes also are available for $30, granting special access to select farmhouse ale samples. The cost for designated drivers, as well as those attending after sampling has ended at 4 p.m., is $10. Only adults 21 and over will be admitted to the festival; no outside food or drinks are allowed.
Great regional beers, live music, local food…what’s not to love! Savor the flavor at the 6th annual Hoosier Hops & Harvest, September 12, and experience a Brown County brew bash like none other.
