The early artists braved rugged conditions and lack of amenities to live amongst the beauty in Brown County, Indiana.  Today, artists continue to gain inspiration from their beautiful surroundings.  Over 250 artists reside in Brown County, working in studios, galleries and their homes. Several events are held each year to celebrate the artists and showcase their incredible talents.
Today, the Art Colony continues to thrive and includes a very diverse group of artists and craftspeople in every medium.  From paintings to etchings…from sculpture to pottery to wearable art…textiles to glass to multimedia. Brown County artists discovered long ago that this special place is a haven for creative expression.  Many of our artists provide demonstrations & workshops as well, it is a wonderful way to experience art first hand.
