About Toy Chest

Others might sell toys, but we're the only toy store in town. Our staff is trained as toy experts, and they can help you find the perfect item for the kid (or big kid) in your life. You're never too old for The Toy Chest, and we have toys and games throughout the store for everyone to enjoy. We believe in the power of play!

Established in 1970.

The Toy Chest was started on Main Street in Nashville, Indiana displaying owner Ed Hollis's model of the Hagenbeck-Wallace Circus. In 1988 the circus was destroyed in a fire, and The Toy Chest moved to its current location in The Artist Colony Shops. Shortly thereafter ownership changed hands to Cathy and David Martin. Through two owners, the store was run by the woman visitors to the store quickly came to know and love, Joyce. Joyce started and maintained our high standards for personalized customer service and played a huge part in making The Toy Chest what it is today.  Although she has been unable to work in the store since October 2013, Joyce remains in close contact and loves hearing from old customers. Once Joyce was unable to be in the store any longer, Hilary Key took over as manager and took ownership of The Toy Chest in 2014. Together with her husband, Danny, mother, Lauri, and other wonderful employees, she hopes to carry on the Brown County tradition of The Toy Chest.
