Explore the T.C. Steele State Historic Site – Where Art Meets Nature!
This special place in Brown County was once home to a famous artist named Theodore C. Steele. He loved the beauty of nature and was the first big artist to move to the area—helping make Brown County known as the “Art Colony of the Midwest.”
You can take a tour of his house and art studio, where you’ll see his paintings and old furniture from over 100 years ago. The tours happen all year, but it’s a good idea to call ahead because space is limited.
What you can do there:
- Walk through beautiful gardens
- Visit the old Dewar Log Cabin
- Hike on five different trails
- Explore the 92-acre nature preserve
- See lily ponds, forest paths, and cool art spots
Planning a wedding?
This place is also great for special events! You can get married in the gardens or have a party in the woods or on the big porch. It’s a perfect mix of art, history, and nature—and a great place for amazing photos!
