Bill Monroe fell in love with the little town of Bean Blossom, Indiana, and even owned some property there for over 40 years. Many call Bean Blossom the "Mecca of Bluegrass Music." Bill Monroe held his first bluegrass festival in 1967 (then a two-day festival). In 1968, the festival brought people from all over the country to see him and other Grand Ole Opry stars. Though he died in 1996, his memory still lives on at the Bill Monroe Music Park and Campground. Read more about the history here.
