Night Flight Zip Line Tours at eXplore Brown County

When the sun goes down, headlamps and Tiki torches light the way on zip lines in the woods of Brown County! If you’re scared of heights, night flights are perfect because you can’t see how high you are. At night, keep those ears open. You can hear the different types of wildlife. Each guest is provided with a headlamp and/or glow stick. Tiki lit decks 60' in the air. Zip on into the darkness where only the moon, stars, and red headlamp light your way. Choose from two tour options. You must book a minimum of three hours in advance same day.

Feelin' Hot, Hot, Hot...at eXplore Brown County

Back to school, but the fun does not need to end! eXplore Brown County is proud to say that it's a true tree top to tree top canopy adventure. No need to go to Costa Rica, the dense hardwood forest of Brown County and the Hoosier National Forest provides the same canopy experience. Escape the heat of the city and head for the tree tops to learn about the ecosystem of the woods. There is much to learn as you soar with the birds. Animals of the woods move freely and you may encounter lizards, chipmunks, raccoons, snakes, and perhaps a beautiful white tailed deer.

Zipper’s Kaleidoscope of Color at eXplore Brown County

The colors are changing! Head to eXplore Brown County, one of the "top 10 places in Indiana to view the fall foray of changing colors" according to Indiana Travel and Tourism. It’s starting to cool down...enjoy the fresh air and don’t miss the beauty of the fall colors reflecting like a kaleidoscope of color in the lake below you. Soar up to 90 ft. in the air on this breathtaking adventure which begins with a ride deep into the forest. You will take off on zip lines ranging from 80 to 1,220 feet long. With 15 zip lines and four tours to choose from, there is adventure and beauty everywhere you look!

Campside Sessions Women's Mountain Bike Camp

Join DNK Presents for an awesome weekend of riding and mountain bike skills along the legendary trails in the Brown County State Park! You will be instructed by professional coaches and meet other amazing women to continue your riding with. Food and primitive onsite camping is included. See you on the trails!

Corrugated Chaos in Brown County

2018 September 22

Brown County Parks and Recreation presents Corrugated Chaos in Brown County, a Cardboard Regatta! The challenge: to design and build a person-powered corrugated cardboard boat capable of traversing/racing a 100 yard course at Sweetwater Beach. Award categories include Most Creative Design, Gilligan Award (boat thought most likely to leave you stranded), Titanic Award (most spectacular sinking), and The Fastest in the County. This event is a fundraiser for Brown County Parks and Recreation.

Zip on Zombies vs. the Adventure Heroes at eXplore Brown County

eXplore Brown County has been invaded by zombies and guides dressed as adventure heroes will protect you…..unless YOU are really a ZOMBIE! Which side of the fight are you on? Join in the fun and dress for the adventure. You'll start with a ride deep into the woods to experience zips which range from 80 ft to 1,220 ft, and reach heights up to 90 ft in the tree tops. Did I say witch??? Watch out for them too. Please keep a look out for those participants that didn't listen to their guides, and were left hanging as zombie bait! Super heroes and zombie lovers...hopefully you survive this adrenaline rush! (this is not a haunted trail)

Brown County Epic Mountain Bike Festival

2018 October 12-14

This Festival and Epic ride offer tons of flowing single track during Brown County's prime autumn season! Come for the weekend and experience an impressive array of cycling inspired events and resources. The Epic will have something for everyone...camping, demos, food trucks, a beer garden, group rides, games, raffles, live music, a post-ride BBQ, and more! All proceeds go to the Hoosier Mountain Bike Association (HMBA), which means more trails in Brown County and across Indiana!

Tecumseh Trail Marathon & Half Marathon / Yellowwood Lake Fun Run

Up for a challenge? Take on the Tecumseh Trail Marathon (26.2 miles) or the Half Marathon (13.1 miles) through Morgan-Monroe and Yellowwood State Forest. Those looking for something a little less grueling can participate in the Quarter Marathon (6.7 mile) fun run/walk around Yellowwood Lake. There's even a new 50K Trail Run!

Native American Heritage Month at eXplore Brown County

2018 November 2-4, 9-11, 16-18, 23-25, 30

Marveling at the beauty of Brown County, our first inhabitants left no footprint behind. The migratory Delaware Indians came to Brown County's dense green hardwood forest to hunt wild turkeys, gray squirrels, white tailed deer, and black bear. Guides will share stories and local history relating to the native Brown County people who lived vibrant, meaningful, and diverse lives filled with cultural expression. Much of Brown County's landscape has changed drastically since these people roamed our hills. But, at eXplore Brown County you can soar through the trees and enjoy a landscape much like it once was. Zip line guides will illuminate the significance of the people who lived and loved the hills of Brown County hundreds of years ago.

Brown County Hilly Half

2018 November 10

For its third year, the Brown County YMCA Hilly Half Marathon hopes to highlight beautiful Brown County to promote health, well-being and create a true sense of community. The scenic route starts and finishes at the Saddle Barn/Lower Shelter house, winding its way through picturesque Brown County State Park. Up hills, past the fire tower, vistas and back down the hill to a surprise near the finish line! There will be a 5K, 10K, half marathon, and a kids' run! Awards and a post-race pizza party will follow!

Gravel Grovel

Gravel Grovel has been called "Mother Nature's Cylo-cross Course" through the beautiful and rugged Hoosier National Forest. A mix of gravel road, singletrack trail, fire road, and pavement, the Gravel Grovel is a self-supported, solo riding excursion.

Santa’s Zip N' Sip at eXplore Brown County

Ho, ho, ho Santa is at eXplore Brown County to zip with you and to find out if you’ve been good! Santa will share the beauty of the winter landscape in the Brown County hardwood forest. The terrain looks so different...the vista opens and you can see for miles. Perhaps you will even catch a few snowflakes as you soar 90 ft in the air across the frozen lake. Santa will investigate with you the winter life of the forest. Who is sleeping the winter away and who is up foraging the woods? Take photos with Santa, sit on his lap, and tell him what you are dreaming of for the holidays! Santa will end the tour with a cup of hot cocoa in the nice warm Harvest Hall. Don’t forget the marshmallows!

Frigid Rogaine

2019 January 5

Navigate the hills of Brown County during this unique orienteering race! Perfect for beginners, there's also going to be a bonus point format and added night event to keep veteran racers out punching checkpoints until their toes go numb. What is a Rogaine? A Rogaine is simply a race in which participants use a map and compass to locate checkpoints (CPs). The goal is to locate the most CPs in the allotted time. Sometimes CPs are assigned a point value according to their difficulty. Then the goal is to get the most points. There is no set course so you are free to choose any route you'd like!

TIME: Check-in 12 p.m.; rogaine begins at 1 p.m.

Frosty Trails 5 Mile

Join the Brown County YMCA for the 8th annual Frosty Trails 5 Mile! Participate in the challenging 5.2 mile scenic trail run (or walk if you'd like) or the 5K road run/walk through the beautiful Brown County State Park! Gather at the Recreation Building post-race for a warm fire, warm food and drinks, and best of all warm friends sharing tales of the trails!

TIME: Race starts at 1 p.m.

Winter Hike

2019 January 19

Have fun during this Winter in the Woods staple! This year's event will be set up scavenger hunt style. There will be points placed throughout the Brown County State Park, along hiking trails and at high profile locations. Alpha-numeric codes will be found at these points that you will collect as you hike around the Park. Each code is worth a set number of points. Rack up points to win big!

TIME: Registration 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.; scavenger hunt ends at 3 p.m.; awards at 4 p.m.
