John Michael Carter Workshop

2018 July 12-14

John Michael Carter, one of America's finest figural painters, is bringing his extensive teaching skills to the Brown County Art Gallery, July 12-14. During this intense figural workshop, students will be drawing from live models. Workshop hours are daily 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will be held in the Stevens Art Education Studio.

The Hands on History Children's Program for July will teach children about old time remedies, folklore, and folk characters in a fun, interactive way! Children 8-12 years of age are encouraged to pre-register in this popular program!

Oil Painting Plein Air/Studio Workshop with Bill Farnsworth

2018 August 6-9

Bill Farnsworth will teach a four-day oil painting Plein air/studio workshop this summer! For two days students will paint on location Plein air and two days in the studio. In the field, Bill will show students how to choose, edit, and capture the essence of a scene. Back in the studio, students will work from studies and photos. Strong emphasis will be on good values, shapes, and color temperature.

Meet The Seeds: A Hands-On Class

Join Torrie Rae of SEED Brown County (Indiana) & Ben Cohen of Small House Farm (Michigan) in a hands-on seed saving demo class... happening at the Nashville Farmer's Market at the Brown County Inn parking lot. Come "meet the seeds" that sustain us! Continue to share in learning about the seeds in our continually growing and evolving seed library. Learn how to process homestead size seed harvests. Plants and seeds to process will be available, but the community is encouraged to bring plants and seeds too!

Interpreting Realty - Carolyn Anderson Workshop

2018 October 15-18

Learn to interpret and see visual information in a new and interesting way! Carolyn’s teaching is based on years of experience explaining how to interpret edges, color temperature, and shapes, and learning how to recognize patterns and make comparisons. Her goal is to empower artists to look and see a little differently and be able to expand their own personal expression. Instruction will be in oils and the class is primarily for the intermediate to advanced painter.
