Art Colony Weekend
The Brown County Art Guild is hosting the 3rd Annual Brown County Art Colony Weekend. This event is a celebration of the rich artistic history and exciting future of Brown County and is presented in conjunction with the T.C. Steele State Historic Site.
Friday, September 8:
Guild Artist Members Plein Air Gathering (private event)
6 p.m. - The Art of Tea at Sweetea's Tea Shop. Enjoy a unique, fun class on the Art of Tea! Learn all about teas and herbs, then blend your own artfully wonderful tea. You'll even get to take home what you create! Call 812.988.6515 to reserve your spot.
Saturday, September 9:
7 a.m.-4 p.m. at the T.C. Steele State Historic Site-- The 29th Annual Great Outdoor Art Contest and local tastings. This year’s PaintOut judges will be Bob and Ellie Haan, Maggie Rapp, and Dale Popovich. Contest judges will offer two painting demonstrations during the day, designed for beginning artists and those who would like to get started painting en plein air. An outdoor afternoon concert by Amanda Webb Band, a beer garden provided by Salt Creek Brewery, and lunch offered by Hotel Nashville, will complete the day. The PaintOut is co-sponsored by Pygmalion’s Art Supplies and the Friends of T.C. Steele State Historic Site. First place and People’s Choice winning artwork will be displayed at the Brown County Art Guild following the PaintOut.

4-8 p.m. - Village Art Walk. Enjoy a free, self-guided tour of 15 downtown galleries featuring original, local and regional fine arts and crafts. Demonstrations, music and refreshments at many galleries. Meet the artists and see them at work! Look for brown and white Art Walk signs at participating galleries.
6-8 p.m. - Artist Reception and Wet Paint Sale at the Brown County Art Guild. Paintings from the previous days paint out will be on display and available for purchase. Visitors can enjoy light refreshments and beer from Big Woods Brewery with music by Amanda Webb. “Painterly Companions,” an exhibit celebrating the camaraderie and relationships that are built between artists and their subjects through the creation of art, will also be on display. This event is free and open to the public.
Sunday, September 10:
7 a.m. - 1 p.m. - Villagescape Paint Out.
- For those wanting to watch: Painters will be out and about in the Village for those passing by to watch! You'll be amazed at how talented these artists are! See them in action and chat it up!
- For interested artists: $15 for Guild artist members $20 for public. Prizes- First place: $1000, Second $500, Third $250, Honorable Mention $125. Nationally recognized artist Luke Buck will judge. Registration will be held from 7-8:30 a.m. at the Brown County Art Guild. Artist registration includes entry into the paint out, refreshments from Muddy Boots Café and one drink coupon to be used at the Artist Gathering during judging from 1-2 p.m. at the Brown County Playhouse.

1-3 p.m. - Community Paint-Along. Participate in the first ever "Community Paint-Along" that will take place at Tilton Corner, the northeast corner of the Village Green. Sponsored by Art Alliance Brown County, a local artist organization, the event will be free and open to all ages. Large panels will be available along with all materials, for participants to paint a section with their own design. Learn about the Art Alliance at www.browncountyartalliance.org.
3-4 p.m. - Closing reception and awards ceremony at the Brown County Art Guild.
