The bluegrass music tradition goes back hundreds of years, but it was Bill Monroe, the "Father of Bluegrass Music", with his high-mountain tenor singing and unique mandolin playhing, who made bluegrass what it is today. This historical park boasts over 50 years of music and it is the home of seven music festivals, including the "oldest, continuous running bluegrass festival in the world"-the Bill Monroe Memorial Bean Blossom Bluegrass Festival. Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy this annual festival featuring the best in Bluegrass, Folk, Gospel, Blues, Jam Bands and more. Festivals range from June-October. General admission. Call for ticket information.
Bill Monroe's Bluegrass Hall of Fame & Country Star Museum is also available for your entertainment. The museum features pictures, artifacts, instruments, and memorabilia from many of the bluegrass greats and stars of the Grand Ole Opry. As you walk through the museum, listen to the story of bluegrass beginnings, the history of the Brown County Jamboree Barn, and how Bill Monroe stumbled across the little Mecca of Bean Blossom, making it his home away from home... now home of seven music festivals!
